Rescue Earth System

Regenerative Food

The Rescue Earth System is a holistic suite of diverse regenerative solutions that can be applied to all levels of society, economy and the environment.

Regeneratively Optimised Food

RO*Food -- Nutrient Dense Naturally Farmed Food

Healthy, nutritious food starts with healthy soil. The Regenerative Food System is a carbon-negative agriculture that produces Nutrient Dense Naturally Farmed Food using Regenerative Farming Principles.

Farmers Markets are the perfect place for you to buy your food directly from the grower.

Regenerative Agriculture

Regenerative Farming Systems use natural agroecological principles to produce the most nutritious food possible while at the same time improving the soil organic matter, fertility, water infiltration, water holding capacity, etc. Each application of regenerative agriculture is unique — it is a localised blend of holistic practices used in agroecology, natural farming (Korean & Masanobu Fukuoka — one straw revolution), biodynamics, permaculture, etc.

With the global population of humans set to peak at over 9 Billion, the only way we will be able to address the challenges Earth and humanity face, is to Rescue Earth by fixing the way we produce food, because only then will there be any space left for nature to thrive!

“The One-Straw Revolution is one of the founding documents of the alternative food movement, and indispensable to anyone hoping to understand the future of food and agriculture.”
Michael Pollan
Nutrient Dense Food

The statement “let food be your medicine and medicine be your food” is one of the most profound medical prescriptions ever offered — and it was coined by Hippocrates, almost 2500 years ago. But today most of our food lacks the minerals, trace elements, anti-oxidants, enzymes, etc. to be medicine. In fact, it could make you sick!

We urgently need to grow and consume more nutrient dense food — food filled with all the naturally chelated minerals, trace elements, anti-oxidants, amino acids, enzymes, etc. that our bodies need to function optimally.

Although one can supplement with isolated inorganic minerals, chelated minerals are far more effective, and naturally chelated minerals even more desirable. Despite the remarkable advances in modern science, laboratories cannot come close to replicating the synergy of nature!

When a mineral is chelated, it is bound to an amino acid and the two compounds are closely associated. Amino acids are easily absorbed, and because the two remain together, your body can make maximum nutritional use of the mineral.

The problem is that most industrially farmed food is empty calories — sugars without the nutrients. Only food grown ecologically, in soil that is teaming with microbes, has optimised nutrient density.

Although the whole Soil Food Web is important, Mycorrhizal fungi stand out in their role in facilitating the production of wholesome food.

Polycultures help plants grow better and feed the soil …

The role of mycorrhizal fungi

Mycorrhizal fungi are a critical ingredient to the optimal function of dynamic soils. These microscopic organisms partner with the root systems of approximately 95 percent of the plants on Earth, and they sequester carbon in much more meaningful ways than human “carbon offsets” will ever achieve.

Pick up a handful of old-growth forest soil and you are holding kilometres of threadlike fungal mycelia. Over 25 kilometres of mycelium can be found in a cubic meter of regeneratively optimised farm soil. Most of these soil fungi are mycorrhizal, supporting plant health in elegant and sophisticated ways.

The boost to the immune function in plants and the community-wide networking provided by mycorrhizal fungi turns out to be the true basis of ecosystem resiliency. A profound intelligence exists in the underground nutrient exchange between fungi and plant roots, which in turn determines the nutrient density of the foods we grow and eat.

The real impetus behind no-till farming, gardening with mulches, cover cropping, digging with broadforks, shallow cultivation, forest-edge orcharding, and everything related to agroecology / permaculture is to help the plants and fungi to prosper . . . which means we prosper as well.

Building Soil Regeneratively

Building soil structure and fertility that lasts for ages results only once we comprehend the non-disturbance principle using regenerative techniques that are pertinent to gardeners, landscapers, orchardists, foresters, and farmers.

The Soil Food Web is key to producing nutrient dense food. Much of this syntropy is mediated by fungi!

The prospect of “fungal consciousness” will resonate with everyone who is fascinated with the unseen workings of nature and concerned about maintaining and restoring the health of our soils, our climate, and the quality of life on Earth for generations to come.

Applying Biologically Active Compost and compost teas to your garden or farm is the best way to increase the numbers and diversity of microbes in your soil. This will rapidly amplify the nutrient cycling / mining synergies that emerge from an optimised microbial ecosystem and your plants will thrive without any chemical fertilizer.
